At Renew, we believe that by simplifying the way people 50+ meet, we will improve their quality of life. Part of that means making sure that everyone knows how to use our app. Below are some of the questions we are asked most often.

I just joined and I do not have any matches. What is happening and what can I do?

Great question! Renew is a new community and will take some time to grow. If you are not seeing any matches today, a few things might be happening.

  1. You could have already acted on your matches for this week.

    • Renew offers you three matches per week. Once you act on those matches, you will not be able to view any more until the following week. You will be matched with 3 additional people every Monday.

  2. You might have set the “How close you want your friends to be” radius to a small number.

    • Because Renew is a new community, it will take time to grow into most areas. We are happy to match you with like-minded people from anywhere in the US until there are more people in the community near you. If you’d like to see more people, you can do the following:

  1. Click the “More” tab on the bottom navigation of the app

  2. Click “Edit or view my profile”

  3. Click “Edit profile” on the top right part of the screen

  4. Scroll down the page to find the “Change where you live” button and click it

  5. On the bottom of that page, you can adjust the “How close do you want your friends to be” radius bar

  6. Save your changes

How do I find more or only local people to connect with?

You can change the settings for this in your profile.

  1. Click the “More” tab on the bottom navigation of the app

What should I do if someone is making me feel unsafe, asking for inappropriate information, or being hateful?

By agreeing to our terms of service, people should be respectful of each other. We know this won’t always be the case and want to keep everyone as safe as possible. If you feel uncomfortable, you have 3 options within the app. All 3 options are available on the user’s profile and in all messaging screens.

  • Reporting - you can report the event and tell us what happened. We will follow up with you to investigate and take action if needed.

  • Blocking - you can simply block the user who is making you feel unsafe. We will be notified and keep track of blocked users for potential action.

  • Removing Friend/connection - you can remove a friend. This will end your connection to the removed user. You will no longer be connected to that user nor will you be matched with them again.

What do you do with the information you are collecting about me?

To keep it simple, we are using only the information you are providing us with to find like-minded matches for you. We are not purchasing data or tracking you in any way. We are also not directly selling or sharing any of the information you are giving us. We are using Google Analytics and Firebase to power the app, which means that your data is stored on Google servers.
